Born to Blog: Building Your Blog for Personal and Business Success One Post at a Time
By Janice Hermsen
Too often, according to some of the incidents related in Born To Blog: Building Your Blog for Personal and Business Success One Post at a Time, the results of blogging, even after many years, are poor and ineffective making the experience frustrating. The authors, Mark W. Schaefer and Stanford A. Smith set out to prove that anyone can blog, with a little coaching, because they believe we all have the skills necessary to be an excellent blogger, or in their words “extraordinary blogger”.
Throughout the book, Schaefer and Smith give personal accounts, in their blogger’s conversational style, of the ways they found success and related some of their failures too. They identify five core blogging skills and provide quizzes to help you define your core skill. They point out that “social media marketing is not something that can be taught-it has to be experienced’. I couldn’t agree more. My own experience in learning to use social media to market books has been an extraordinary journey.
After reading Born to Blog, I believe a person or company, if they put their mind and time to the project using the tools provided in the book, have a good chance of having a successful blog. Whether your company is a large corporation or a mom and pop shop, Born to Blog can give you the tips you need to help you find your voice.
So, take the next step. Start your blog. I’ll be looking for it.
