Breast Augmentation Surgery with Saline Breast Implants
By Michael Rosen
Cosmetic breast surgery gives you individualized options for changing your bust size. Whether your desire is to enhance your breast size and volume, to restore pre-pregnancy volume, or to correct asymmetries, breast augmentation surgery is the ideal option. Breast augmentation with saline breast implants remains a popular choice.
Recently, surgical methods and breast-implant technology have improved dramatically, giving more choices and options for augmentation. Still, many prefer saline implants. There are specific reasons why many prefer saline implants for breast augmentation.
Why Choose Saline Breast Augmentation?
Saline implants are filled with sterile saltwater. Saline implants have advantages over other available options. Saline implants also carry risks such as leakage, capsular contracture, and risks of rupture. But, the overall rate of capsular contracture is lower for saline implants. If any rupture occurs, the saltwater solution is fully absorbed, and will do no harm to the body. Moreover, it is easier to detect leaks when they occur.
Proven Safe and Effective
Saline breast implants are relatively safe and require smaller incisions. Depending upon the preferences of the patients, these can be inserted in a variety of positions, either behind each breast, underneath the breast tissue or the chest wall muscle. It takes no more than two hours to complete the procedure, which is typically performed conscious sedation or sometimes under general anesthesia. After surgery the patient's bust line may increase by one or more cup sizes. Normal activities can be resumed within a week after surgery.
The most important aspect to consider when deciding to undergo a breast augmentation procedure is the experience of the plastic surgeon. You need to take time to learn more about the different surgeons in your area to find a reliable plastic surgeon who can address your concerns appropriately.
