Change Your Marketing Strategies
By Luann Allen
It’s been a while since the economy changed, and I am surprised at the number of small businesses who still haven’t changed their marketing strategies to fit the new economy.
I have business owners (clearly not my clients) who tell me that business is slow. It shouldn’t be. Not if you rolled with the changes.
I have always been fascinated with homeless people, and, as I’ve said before, all of life revolves around marketing.
Yesterday I was taking a walk downtown. We have one homeless man who looks like the poster person for all homeless people – long beard, talks to himself, no one else, very rough looking, etc.
Now we have more homeless people, and his competition has increased. He has now taken to playing the clarinet to get more money – and he’s good!
He’s pushed aside a lot of his competition, and I believe he’s actually enjoying it.
Hooray for demonstrating his “something unique” brand. He’s moved himself from leach to entertainer and is making more money.
What could your business be doing to show that it is different.
