You haven’t had time to look into it? Or, maybe you just don't get it. Pinterest is a visual aide for people just looking for stuff. What kind of stuff? Any kind of stuff: clothes, music, or just a daily joke.
How can it help you? Pinterest can help any business owner get their products and services out to the masses. It’s like Facebook, or think of it like that old commercial for Suave shampoo. It's the same concept, for those that don't remember that commercial, it was a woman who tried Suave shampoo, she told two friends (and two squares show up with her picture) and they told two friends and they told two friends and so on and so on and so on....get it?
The whole concept of Pinterest is visually appealing, and very rarely does anything not get shared. The keys to leveraging this concept as a marketing tool is tagging. If you post a picture on one of your boards of your service or product you always want to make sure the "tags" are back links that go back to you and your business. This concept will drive traffic to your website thus generating leads.
When Sony first launched their Pinterest Boards their web traffic grew a reported 900% according to Forbes Magazine. Bet you could use that kind of traffic right?
What does web traffic do for your business? It generates leads. People that are interested in your service or product they were able to visually see on your boards. So to answer the question, what is Pinterest? It is a web traffic builder and a lead generator and will eventually help you grow your business. It's a good thing!
