How Small Business Helps Our Economy
By ProMatcher Staff
The Importance of Small Business to the Economy
We can’t underestimate the importance of small business to the U.S. economy. Did you know small businesses employ roughly half of the entire working population? About 60 million Americans are working for companies with less than 500 employees. It gets better though. In addition to providing jobs, small businesses also produce nearly 50% of the U.S.’s privately generated (non-farm) gross domestic product (GDP).
According to ADP’s latest National Employment Report, the private sector added about 185,000 jobs to the U.S. economy from June to July of 2015. What’s even more impressive? Companies with fewer than 50 employees contributed 59,000 of these jobs.
Making a big difference.
Small business owners don’t always get the credit they deserve. They are job creators, innovators, and trailblazers. They are constantly adapting to changing conditions and they must respond with new and creative solutions. Their contributions should be recognized.
