A 2014 BrightLocal survey found that 39% of consumers went online to search for a local business at least once a month. Almost 60% of respondents said they searched for local businesses online at least 6 times a year.
When consumers find businesses online, they don’t always go for the first thing they stumble upon. They often look to online reviews to make a decision. The BrightLocal survey also found that 72% of consumers are more likely to trust a business with positive online reviews. You might be surprised to learn that 88% of consumers trust online reviews as much as they would trust a recommendation from a friend or family member.

More and more consumers are using the Internet to find the services they need. They are using search engines to find roofing companies, auto repair shops, florists, restaurants, and dry cleaners.
