Job Related Criminal Charges - Being Wrongfully Accused
By Latisha Lebron
What will you do if you are wrongfully accused while at work? The thought alone of being accused of a crime is scary. But when it is work related, it is scary and humiliating. This is something no one ever wants to face, yet it happens all the time. Quite often on the news, in the papers, or maybe even at our jobs we hear about someone being accused of a job related crime. Of course the world isn't perfect and there are people who actually do commit crimes. What about the people who don't, yet they are accused of doing so?
There are so many professions where people are more at risk than others of being sued or wrongfully accused. Some of these people are doctors, social workers, teachers, day care center employees, home healthcare workers, accountants, commercial drivers, and police officers. These are just to name a few. Police officers seem to have to deal with criminal charges all the time. They are here to protect us from the bad guys, but with one false move, they are then considered the bad guys and have their names all over the news. How about the teachers who are being falsely accused of different forms of abuse? It is very sad when any adult abuses a child. It is also sad when someone is falsely accused of child abuse. There were times when a student would accuse a teacher of something he or she didn't do simply because a teacher may have given the student a bad grade or something of that nature. Some students have gone so far as to accuse a teacher of abuse or even molestation. Once that teacher is accused, his or her reputation is completely ruined forever.
How do we handle this situation if it happens to us or someone we know? We fight to clear our names and even hire an attorney. This kind of problem can cause a financial burden. This is why it is always a good idea to protect yourself in advance. To avoid paying thousands of dollars in medical fees if you seek medical treatment, you prepare in advance by obtaining medical insurance. You purchase car insurance so that in the event of an accident or theft, you are protected from the high costs to fix these problems. The same goes for legal insurance. If a legal situation occurs and you have a legal insurance plan, you do not have to worry about the high hourly costs most attorneys will charge. There are some things people are not aware of because some attorneys may not necessarily tell you, but there are a lot of legal issues that can be handled simply through consultation, or letters and phone calls made by the attorney on their client's behalf. In some cases, an attorney can guide you step by step on how to handle a legal situation on your own and have the best outcome. When you have legal insurance, those are just some of the things that are covered so you don't have to worry about costs. Wealthy people can afford to pay any attorney any time they may need one. If you are accused of a crime while on the job, can you afford to hire an attorney to defend you? No matter if you can or not, you no longer have to. You can simply obtain legal insurance so that if you are on the job and accused of a crime you didn't commit, a quality, reputable attorney in your state will represent you at no additional costs.
