Show Your Customers You Care and Keep Them Coming Back
By Doug Timko
We all have heard that it is more costly to find new customers than it is to service and keep the ones we have. We are a mobile society, and we can get anything we need or want from many different places. So how do you keep customers?
1. Show them how much you appreciate their business by dropping them a card, thanking them or wishing them a happy birthday. All this makes the customer feel special. I use SendOutCards. It is easy to use, and I can customize the cards for any occasion.
2. If you have employees, remember they are the face of your business, so you want make sure that they are having a positive interaction with your customers. There is nothing worse then seeing an employee auguring with a customer or an employee with poor attitude. You may want to meet with your employees to see if they are having any reoccurring concerns.
3. Celebrate your customers' successes. If they just won a big contract, received a promotion, or if their kids got their name or picture in the paper--find away to acknowledge it.
4. This can be hard, and it can turn into a very humbling experience, but ask your customers how you are doing, or what can you do to make their experience better. This can be done in a number of ways such as surveys or a suggestion box.
I know most of you are probably doing these things, but businesses, especially ones in small towns, have to constantly come up with ways to keep their clients coming back.
