DO YOUR RESEARCH! Always choose 'QUALITY' over 'COST'. Remember the ol' saying, "You get what you pay for". You pay a cheaper price for service but the QUALITY isn't there. They may have even taken multiple shortcuts and purposely overlooked a safety hazard or even created one in the process. You end up spending the money you thought you were saving just to have another Pro come in and do the job the correct way, ensuring that the work has been done safely and correctly. And ensuring that all concerns have been addressed and there are no known safety risks or hazards that could harm you or anyone. No patchwork. You want to hire a Thorough Company. Talk to them before hiring. Ask multiple questions. If they get annoyed by your inquisitiveness, then they are not the company for you. UTILIZE YOUR INSTINCTS. Are they a company that will look at each job before quoting a price or are they the type to just throw a ridiculously low price at you just to secure the job and then possibly raise the price on-site? Do they issue either Manual or Digital Estimates, Invoices, Receipts so that you have a copy/proof of all payments/work completed or proposed work to be done? Do they offer suggestions or engage your conversation well or do they appear eager to get the job and run? Do they bring things related or unrelated to your attention that may require your attention as they do their assessment? [That tells you how serious they are about the job-at-hand.] Remember, your INSTINCTS could be your best form of judgement when hiring someone to come into your home to do work. Their appearance, attire plays a huge role in that, as well. For my company, it is my policy that we wear booties over our shoes for the duration of our time inside your home.
