What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?
A:
Be upfront with budgets, expectations, payables, reason you are seeking a change, and any problems so solutions may be presented. It's either a good fit or it's not - and that's alright - being upfront saves time and also may serve as an educational dialogue for both parties. Do your due diligence and receive at least 3 quotes. Pay attention to - do they answer the phone or respond timely? Are they at the professional level that I am accustomed to dealing with? Do they operate with integrity? Does the person you're speaking with seem sincere and passionate about the solutions they provide, or are they doing a sales pitch? Do they know their numbers and knowledgeable about their industry to safeguard against bidding so low they cannot perform the job? Lastly, ask them how or why a recent relationship with a client didn't work, and how was that communication bridge left, and what will they do different in the future?
Ask questions. You should, as the perspective client, be talking 70-80% of the time. Your decision should be made 90-95% based on website presentation, reputation, apparent professionalism and/or deliverables, and the timeliness in communication. If the company person is rambling or over selling, ask why. If they seem to over promise ask for a detailed and proactive plan. Finally, do you feel they value you as a long term relationship, or a one time service and collect money sale. You should be looking for relationship potential right there with price and deliverables.
