We recently had a door entry troubleshoot and we tested the wiring from the house to the gate for a short in the wiring. The test came back negative. So we had replace their device. A few weeks later we a call from the same client with the same problem. But this time there was static on the line. After troubleshooting all of the jacks in the house, we found the bad jack. It was an outside patio jack that was getting wet and causing the short on the line. We replaced the jack and installed a water proof cover.
