Seattle Second Story Addtion
Bought as an investment property, this is the "House Next Door"...literally.
My wife and I have lived next door to this NE Seattle bungalow for 20 years. When it came up for sale, we decided to go for it. During construction, I acted as Architect/General Contractor.
The upper 1/2 story was fully torn off to make way for a new Master Bedrooms and Bath, an office and second Bedroom. The downstairs was completed gutted and now sports new bedrooms, kitchen, bath and family room. The home was sold to an appreciative Seattle couple.
This Built Green 3-star home features energy efficient materials through-out and strove to recycle, re-use and restore.

Testimonials
Ms. Jerri Plumridge: SouthEast Effective Development
Jim Rymsza was a wonderful architect for both my renovation projects. I worked with him on the renovation of two historic cultural facilities and he exhibited a creative and problem-solving approach to design. He brought extensive experience and listened and incorporated the needs of our clients into his approach. He also acted as project manager and efficiently kept the project moving and communicated well with all parties. I was highly satisfied both with his project management skills and his expertise as an architect. Plus, he was good fun to work with and we’ve had many compliments on the project from professionals and community members alike.
Ms. Heather Lisagor: Ravenna/Bryant, Seattle, WA
We recently worked with Jim Rymsza on an addition to our 1946 “war box” house. Jim was great at supporting our hands-on design approach and in tailoring his services to meet our needs. During the design process, he had excellent suggestions to maximize the space and functionality of our addition. The permit process went exceptionally well, a tribute to Jim’s professionalism and experience. In addition, his advice and input during the construction phase were extremely helpful. Thanks to Jim, we are now enjoying a well-architected space that we love and that works great with our existing home.
Mr. Eric Trepanier: Hawthorn HIlls, Seattle, WA
“What a relief to work with an architect who could lead us amateurs through the design/build process, but still reassure us that we were in control from the start. Jim’s eye for creative, functional design paid off handsomely - we love living in our home now…”
