What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?

Be sure to get a written estimate and make sure that the company providing the estimate provides an estimate guarantee. We make sure that we stand behind our written estimates for the entire season. Make sure that all services are on the estimate, including any planting, clean up and pet waste disposal.

What is the most common type of project or service your company provides?

Mike's provides all type of lawn and land maintenance service. From the smallest of yards to the largest of estate grounds and everything in between, we handle all jobs. For commercial we service property management companies, HOA's, churches, schools and municipality common grounds. Mike's does sprinkler install and maintenance, water feature service, pond design, installation and cleaning as well as tree service, tractor mowing and lot clean up.

In what ways is your company environmentally friendly?

At Mike's we use environmentally friendly chemicals, and utilize the latest in eco-friendly equipment. Mike's plants for the region we are in, utilizing native Texas flora to create the ideal landscape for all of our clients.

My love of landscaping started at a very young age. Like most young boys growing up in Texas, I got my first taste of lawn care by mowing yards for money during the summer months between school sessions. My love of the outdoors and my love for nature and its beauty drove my passion for lawn and land care in my adult years. I believe some of my most enduring qualities are my understanding of what a lawn or land owner is wanting to achieve on their project and my desire for perfection. I am member of the Flower Mound community and take part in supporting not only my local community but also the surrounding communities and LISD. I am a graduate of Texas Tech University and currently have 2 children attending Tech with another having been accepted for the Fall 2017 semester. My wife and I also have a darling 6 year old daughter who rules the roost. (Those of you with young daughters will understand) This company is not just a job, it is my family support and the means for my children

How We Charge For Our Services

Fall Lawn - Rake, Clean, Remove
- $25.00 per hour for raking and bagging
- $25.00 fixed fee for 1/8 acre lot
- $30.00 to $40.00 fixed fee for 1/4 acre lot (most typical)
- $65.00 to $85.00 fixed fee for 1/2 acre lot
- $100.00 to $125.00 fixed fee per 1 acre
We charge by the job on most estimates. Once the job is over 1 acre we charge by the man hour.

Land, Lot, & Site Clearing
- $22.50 to $25.00 per hour
We charge by the man/hour for a 2 man crew

Landscape - Install or Plant
- $45.00 to $75.00 per hour (per person) plus materials
This is per man hour excluding materials

Landscape Designers - Commercial
- $50.00 to $100.00 per hour
- 25.00 to 27.50 percent of landscaping cost
Hourly rate for landscape design is included in the cost. Does include design consultations, plans for layout of landscape, and tree and plant suggestions. Price excludes materials, supplies, site preparation, planting, and construction.

Landscape Designers - Residential
- $55.00 to $65.00 per hour
Hourly rate for landscape design is included in the cost. Does include design consultations, plans for layout of landscape, and tree and plant suggestions. Price excludes materials, supplies, site preparation, planting, and construction.

Lawn - Aeration Services
- $100.00 to $125.00 per visit (1 acre)
- $50.00 to $65.00 per visit (1/2 acre)
- $35.00 to $45.00 per visit (1/4 acre)
We charge by the job not by the hour

Lawn - Fertilize or Treat
- $85.00 per application (1 acre)
- $50.00 per application (1/4 acre)
- $65.00 per application (1/2 acre)
We charge by the application plus the cost of chemicals.

Lawn - Mow or Maintain
- $65.00 to $85.00 per visit (1 acre)
- $35.00 to $45.00 per visit (1/4 acre)
- $45.00 to $60.00 per visit (1/2 acre)
We charge by the job at 1/4 acre marks. We utilize technology to measure your yard to ensure we provide a proper estimate. All service includes mowing, edging, weed removal, sidewalk and drive cleanup and bagging of all lawn clippings.

Lawn or Garden - Pull Weeds
- $15.00 to $20.00 per hour
We charge by the man hour.

Leaf Cleanup and Removal
- $20.00 to $25.00 per hour for raking and bagging
We charge by the man/hour

Seeding Services
- $0.15 to $0.20 per square foot (overseeding)
- $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot (new lawn)
We provide a by the square foot estimate excluding the cost of seed.

Sod Installation
- $1.15 to $2.25 per square foot installed
We charge by the square foot and include all job necessities including sod, labor and materials. The cost depends on the type of sod and the total square feet needed.

Tree Services - Tree Removal
- $3.50 to $5.00 per foot of height
- $150.00 to $500.00 fixed fee for standing tree (less than 30 ft)
- $125.00 to $350.00 fixed fee for fallen tree (less than 30 ft)
We charge by the job not the man hour

Tree Stump Removal
- $125.00 to $300.00 fixed fee per stump (15 inch diameter)
- $350.00 to $500.00 fixed fee per stump (30 inch diameter)
We charge by the stump and use age and condition of the stump to help determine the price

Yard & Lawn - Cleanup
- $20.00 to $35.00 per hour
Mike's charges by the hour for the entire job, not by the person/hour.
