Licensed Therapists are skilled and trained in providing conflict resolution, negotiations, and creating a safe environment. This is quite different from attorneys, who are trained in litigation and representing one side.
Look for someone that is flexible, neutral, and trained. Not every mediator completes training in mediation. This is critical to making the best possible agreement with the least amount of stress.
Ask questions and get a feel for how the company representative responds to you. Do you feel heard? Do you feel like you are just another case? Go with your gut feeling on choosing a mediator.
