What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?

Find someone you trust and buy from them. Ask for an application guarantee (1-3 years is not unreasonable). Get the guarantee in writing with a decimal point on the contaminant level you are trying to eliminate. For Iron, it should be < 0.3 mg/L (0.3 parts per million) of Total Iron to eliminate stains. Hardness levels < 5 mg/L (5 ppm) are not unreasonable to request. The lowest price is usually not the best solution since many providers either under design the process, or design a process that results in very high service costs (where you keep calling them back). Even though you should avoid the cheapest solution, you do not need to overpay either. Water treatment is about building a process highly dependent on Chemistry. Does your provider have a Chemistry Degree? Make sure that you are getting a company who will stand behind their equipment and process. Don't fall for gimmicks like Free Soap!
