Here I am evaluating a furnace and it's operation. Looking for proper ignition, typical flames, shut off valve, proper gas line, blower operation, filter, back venting, carbon monoxide detection, rise to vent flue, general condition of system and more.

Here I evaluating the main service entry panel for proper incoming service lines, proper fusing, wiring, double tagging, issues with over usage, and much more. Also evaluate by testing outlets, switches, GFCI's, AGFI's, exposed wire splicing, or improper splicing, and much more.

Do I walk Roofs? Of course, but many inspectors do not. Here you can see the evidence of decline to this roof, with membrane damage, moss growth, and of course this roof needed to be replaced. Many inspectors in the area I am told by Realtors, do not walk roofs. WHY? This is just one of 100's of things I evaluate for my clients. Inspectors today get flashy with pics and fancy brochures, I stay with the task that I was hired for, Inspecting a property and by years of experience doing the building and so forth, I know what to look for and do the very best for my clients, not make friends with agents, for guess what other inspectors, they are not really your friends. It should be your clients.

What do you see here? Well, I see a chimney in decline, it's brick, mortar, no cap or spark screen, and this was one that needed much in repairs, as well in the attic area.

Here is a result of a seller not keeping up on one of the biggest investments we make in our lives. Neglect is costly and in this case, water intrusion was the issue. The exterior will always tell something, it also invites me to evaluate the interior at this area, which I found much more issues with water damage, mold, and major costs to repair this. My advice, take care of your home and it will be there for years to come and even bring a return.

Let me begin by saying I have seven years' experience in the construction industry and mostly know the major problems to look for, but for my own piece of mind I decided to hire a home inspector to look over the property. I decided to go with Mr. Rick Todd and it was the smartest decision I could have made. He showed up almost a half hour early and got right to work. We started with the outside and he impressed me right away by getting on the very steep two story roof that I don't think I would've climbed. Rick continued to impress with his knowledge and expertise many of the things he saw I completely overlooked. But with every potential problem he saw he gave several possible solutions. Rick Todd is truly an experienced professional in an industry of charlatans and swindlers.

7/6/2013 Outstanding! Rick Todd did a fabulous job on our inspection. We had numerous specific concerns he discussed with us before the date of the inspection. He spent a good amount of time after the inspection explaining the primary issues that needed attention. He went out of his way to offer some easy solutions with some of the problems in the the home, and it was clear he had comprehensive knowledge in many areas such as construction to toxic mold.
One of our concerns was the roof; he had no problem walking the one-story roof to check for issues, and many inspectors would not bother. You won't find a better home inspector in the Terre Haute and surrounding areas and I highly recommend him.
