What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?

Educate yourself about sober living in general, and do your research on the various approaches to sustainable, long-term sobriety that different sober living facilities provide. Because every organization is different, and therefore have different recovery models. After you've done the research, then decide what type of home and services best fit YOUR specific needs.

Transcend is a structured recovery community rooted in a holistic approach. We help our clients by exposing them to the abundant 12 step community, as well as other evidence based recovery meetings. We also help our clients create a new and healthy lifestyle by using a three pronged approach of Accountability, Clinical Collaboration, and Community.

What would you like your customers to know about your company?

Transcend believes in an individualized approach in helping plot our clients’ road to recovery. We help define the key interests, hobbies, and goals our clients have and develop a schedule that incorporates these things while holding them accountable to their own growth. We also help to promote interest and acclimation to the abundant 12 Step meetings and community. We encourage our clients to see that sobriety can be fun by attending house outings and sober events. At Transcend, we seek to heal the whole person; body, mind and spirit.

What is your company best known for?

Transcend Recovery Community has been the benchmark for sober livings in Los Angeles since 2008. Transcend was the first sober living in the Los Angeles area to offer an awake staff on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have a well educated staff that works in shifts to provide the best sober living experience. On each shift, there are multiple staff members present to provide our clients with one-on-one support whenever it is needed. We have seven breathtaking locations for adults of all ages throughout Los Angeles, one home in Houston, and one home New York City. Transcend provides full transportation to 12 step meetings, outpatient facilities, doctor’s appointments, and group outings. Transcend is based in the belief that a combination of accountability and a loving community will provide a person suffering from drug addiction the very best recovery experience. We work collaboratively with other clinical resources to support our clients in the spirit of a recovery community.

What separates your company from the competition?

Transcend is unlike other sober living communities as we provide many services that most sober living environments do not. We have three full shifts of qualified staff with an awake graveyard shift to continually help monitor and motivate our clients in their recovery. Most sober livings only provide a live in manager but we have found it to be of extreme importance to always have multiple staff members available to our clients.
In keeping with all advances in the field of recovery, Transcend uses a thorough drug testing regiment where we test our clients at random twice a week. All specimens are sent into a lab for complete analysis that screens for over 50 substances including tests for validity and levels of all substances.
Another important piece is our commitment to the family surrounding the client. Every two months, we have a family weekend that specifically deals with the transition out of sober living. We communicate with the family on a weekly basis and we have a dedicated Family Director with 30 years of experience to provide support for the whole family.
In keeping with a truly holistic approach to recovery, Transcend provides two experiential group sessions for our clients per house per week. These group sessions range from acupuncture meditation, mindfulness techniques, yoga, goal setting, book study, and spiritual expression. In addition to our experiential group sessions, each client is given a membership to an exclusive gym that offers a rigorous boxing program and a full spectrum of workout options.
All of these services are not standard in a sober living environment, but we believe necessary for recovery. Therefore, there is no extra cost for any of these services; they are simply a part of our program.
