What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a company like yours?

When shopping for custom window treatments you should always make sure the firm you are dealing with is actually the workroom making the drapes. Very few firms actually make draperies most order their drapes from a large factory workroom or someone working from home with a basic home sewing machine. The most common problem that happens with this arrangement is the quality of the product, the restriction to the basics and mistakes in ordering that leaves the firm loosing money in the remake leaving you without a resolution.
The other important advice I can give you is always compare exactly the same design and fabric. Custom drapery have so many difference in the amount of labor required from one design to the next that if you don't compare the same design you could be over paying.

What is the most common type of project or service your company provides?

At Yelena's Designs we try to design the best window treatment for the room it will be in. One of our most popular designs is our split panel which is a drapery panel made from two fabrics. The first fabric is split in half and sewn on each side of the second fabric.

In todays world the enviroment is a major issue. We make every attempt to respect the enviroment and many of our vendors do as well. We try to use fabrics made from recycled products when ever we can. We also incorporate energy effecient motors for our treatments.

Yelena's Designs was started in 2000 by Yelena and Dave. We have four awards for our drapery, we have been fortunate enough to have worked on National Landmarked Projects and we have enoyed working on projects in Florida, Long Island, Hawaii, Illinois, Wisconsin, Arizona, Washington D.C, Indiana and France. We are a small husband and wife firm but, we are one of the best in the country and we love what we do.

We do offer a warranty, We warranty our draperies for 10 years from time of installation. Details of this warranty is on the back of every contract.

What is the process for getting window treatments?
The process is as follows. First we come to your location, in the first meeting we will measure, take photos and discuss what you want to achomplish. We then return to our workroom and begin designing the best treatement for your windows. The second appointment we return to your location with fabrics, trims, hardware examples, designs and detailed estimates, During this meeting you wiil choose the design you like or we will work together to change the designs to meet your needs. This could be adjusting fabrics or design to acheive the look you want or the price you need.

Describe a project or service that your company recently completed (include challenges, costs, and innovative solutions).

We had a project for a client in North Aurora who ownes a 200 year old estate in the North of France. The client came to us for window treatments after several disappointing meetings with firms in France. The challenge was how to design, make and deliver treatments for the entire estate without having been there. With photos of the estate and measurements supplied by the client we designed everyroom. Once we finished making all the treatments we built a large wooden container that we hung all the draperies, valances and blinds in. We placed several moisture absorbing crystal bags to help control wrinkling and had the container loaded into an international shipping container for the 2 month sea vogage to a port in France. All the treatments arrived in perfect condition with no wrinkling or puckering .
